Tying Knots

It is important to remember that tying a knot involves finishing it by proper dressing and setting. Dressing the knot means aligning and arranging all the parts of the knot correctly. Setting the knot involves tightening all the parts so that they properly touch and grab against each other. This creates the friction that holds the knot together. It is good practice to periodically inspect knots during use. Any new knots should first be mastered at ground level.
